The Doctor's Review of .Hack//Sign
Music [10/10]: Hack is a series with some of the best music ever. It all has a beat, it helps tell the story, and it can be listened to repetitively. I have yet to run into a song that I disliked. I love the feeling the music gives off. It seems almost magical and definitely helps to give the series an air of mystery.
Plot [7/10]: The plot could have used a little tweaking. Occasionally things would happen, someone would nearly die, and you would never know how the characters got out of there alive. It would never be explained. But, basically the plot was good. I liked the notion of someone getting trapped inside a computer game and being used to help destroy the 'World'. It had a lot of action and very interesting characters.
Characters [7/10]: I liked most of the characters but loved only two. Those two were Mimiru and Subaru. They were very cute characters and they seemed to be trying to do the right thing the whole time, but they had very different ways of going about it. Sora tended to get a bit annoying until I learned to appreciate his odd sense of humor. I can think of no character that I wished death upon.
Animation [8/10]: The animation was very colorful. The backgrounds were very detailed and interesting to look at. The characters were well drawn. The only thing I can think of that sort of annoyed me about this style was those 'hippo' things, but they annoy me in all series.
Likability [8/10]: I did like this series. It was very interesting and I felt bad for the characters when they were sad and happy for them when something good happened. It is a good anime and well worth watching.

Sailor
X's Review
of .Hack//Sign
Music [ 10/10]: The music was absolutely superb. I can't think of another anime soundtrack where I've enjoyed so many of the songs both within the series and standing alone. .Hack//Sign just wouldn't be .Hack//Sign without the music. It's a testament to Yuki Kajiura's talent.
Plot [5/10]: I found the plot a bit questionable at times. There were a bunch of episodes where you find yourself asking, "Why did that happen?", "What is going on?" or "What was the point?". It was interesting, annoying, and confusing at various times. I got sick of Tsukasa and his being stuck in the computer. That aspect, stretched over 26 episodes got old, despite the fact that it was essential to the plot. I liked that included some background information for the characters even if sometimes it seemed to detract from the series instead of push it forward.
Characters [8/10]: I believe that most of the characters were likable. There are some exceptions but overall they are a varied and colorful group of individuals with varying personalities and goals. Mimiru is one of the most likable with her adventurous nature and cheerful personality. Tsukasa can be trying at times as well as Subaru but I did like them as well. I especially found Sora humorous and Krim was a nice addition. The most annoying character in my opinion was B.T.
Animation [10/10]: The animation style didn't leave anything to be desired. I'd say the style was just right.
Likability [7/10]: Even though I found the plot so agonizing I did enjoy the overall package. The combination of likable characters, music, and animation style held me to the end. If any of those categories had been lacking I might not have made it through the series. If you're going to throw a confusing/sad story at me let it contain good music and characters.
