The Doctor's Review of Get Backers

Music [10/10]: I loved the music from Get Backers! The opening and ending themes, though sometimes weird, were very catchy. Even the background songs were likable, being very jazzy and pepy. The music made sense where it was placed and I could listen to it all again.

Plot [8/10]: I thought the plot of this anime was very cool. It was about a couple of guys were get things back for people who have lost them, for a fee of course. These guys also have special powers which they will occasionally need to employ to get out of tight spots. Now the powers a few people seem to have are never fully explained and hearing about Mugenjo gets agonizeing, but the humor episodes are absolutly hillarious! They are well worth the pain of suffering through Mugenjou.

Characters [8/10]: The character development was pretty decent, at least for the main characters. You really learn alot about Genji, a bit about Ban, and quite alot about Kadzuki. But, some of the secondary characters get overlooked. Towards the end of the series new characters are just thrown out with very little introductions about it. Most of these become fairly likable characters but you never really know alot about them.

Animation [7/10]: The animation was awesome. The battle scenes happened quick and were very well animated. I loved watching Dr. J's attacks. They were by for the best animated and were the most fun to watch.

Likability [10/10]: I loved this anime! I laughed for a week after the monkey episode! That was the funnest thing. Now there were dark moments in this anime, but when ever things got too depressing the series lightened up a bit with some humor. I really appreciated that. I hate watching an anime and then feeling the need to eat a dozen brownies to cheer myself up. I have never actually done that.... but it sounds tastey.

Sailor X's Review of Get Backers

Music [ 10/10]: Iwasaki did a great job on the music in this series. It's one of the few where I do find myself listening to the background music outside of the series. It fit perfectly in the series and helped set the tone for the scenes. Aside from the background music I was thrilled to hear Naomi Tamura singing the first opening. I've been a fan of her music since I heard her work in Magic Knight Rayearth! Most of the opening themes AND ending themes were excellent. It's rare when so many ending themes can actually inspire me to listen to them outside of the show.

Plot [10/10]: The plot was intriguing and unique. I can't think of another anime quite like it.. though I suppose Saint Tail was in the business of returning items to rightful owners too that was a completely different genre. The parts that get dicey are in Mugenjou. Especially the second trip. However, the series never lost my interest. I would have loved to have seen the series continue.

Characters [10/10]: There was a nice variety of characters in Get Backers. I enjoyed getting to know them all a little better but the characters in the second Mugenjou arc didn't get near as much time as they needed. Most the characters added their unique personalities to form a series of interesting, often humorous, episodes. I liked so many characters it would be difficult to list them all.

Animation [10/10]: The animation was terrific. The only exception possibly being the 4th ending.

Likability [10/10]: This turned out to be one of my favorite series. I wish it didn't have to end. They left it off with so many loose ends yet the ending left you with a good feeling. The most humorous episodes stick with you but it was a nice mix of serious episodes and comedy. Though .. the Mugenjou arcs were a bit too lengthy XD.
