Sailor X's Review of Princess Nine

Music [ 10/10]: The music fit perfectly for this series. I was particuliarly fond of the opening. It has an optimistic feel to it and it's worth listening to outside of the series. The background music could be quite dramatic when it needed to be. The music was a terrific asset to this series.

Plot [9/10]: Ryo Hayakawa loves playing baseball and aspires to be as good a pitcher as her father was. She keeps her playing to a local field until she is discovered by the chairman of Kisaragi High School for girls. Keiko wants to start a girl's baseball team facing much opposition. Ryo ends up getting a baseball scholarship which allows her to attend the prestigious school and finally play on a real baseball team. The goal of the team is to make it to Koshien stadium within three years time and win the entire tournament. From there, it's a matter of finding enough players. The series has a nice mix of comedy, drama, and even some romance.

Characters [10/10]: This series is loaded with characters. They all come with their own personality traits and help to make for an interesting series. As the series moves a long it reveals more about the characters and their unique backstories. Ryo is an optimist and oftentimes inspirational character. Izumi tends to play the antagonist to Ryo but turns out to be a decent human being afterall. The way the chatacters all play off of each other leads to hours of entertainment.

Animation [10/10]: The animation is good.

Likability [10/10]: I loved this series. There were some parts I thought moved too slow and I'll admit I was disappointed by the ending. As touching as the ending was I kind of wish the girls would have won.. but I know it wouldn't have felt as effective. It was really a touching story about teamwork and perseverance. It is a sports anime so I'm sure it must get overlooked quite a bit. It's an excellent series.
