Sailor X's Review of Sailor Moon

Music [ 10/10]: The music took a little getting used to since this is an older series but it works. I'll confess that it partially gets such high marks for the number of character image songs that are available even though they aren't all played in the series. I like when a series does have these bonus character songs and Sailor Moon has more than any series I can think of. It counts for something. Plus the opening and ending themes are both nice. It's hard to get "Moonlight Densetsu" out of my head. I enjoyed the Dub music as well. Especially some of the background music.

Plot [10/10]: The plot was fairly simple but it's a classic! This average young girl quickly discovers, with the help of a talking cat, that she has magical powers. As the story progresses other magical girls are added to the series and it's revealed where they came from. The episodes are mostly self contained stories but there are a few multi-part episodes. It's an interesting plot even if it is fairly simple.

Characters [10/10]: The character development was handled nicely in this series. Not all of the characters arrive at the same time so it gives them all a good chance to reveal more about who they are. Plus the series doesn't get bland because there will be a new addition at some point. If anything I would have liked to have seen more done with the villians.

Animation [10/10]: The animation style is classic Toei. I've grown particuliar fond of Toei's past works so I can't find any faults here.

Likability [10/10]: Sailor Moon was the series that helped me realize what anime was, I'd already seen Unico and Naussicca before it, so it's a favorite not only for the usual reasons but also for sentimental ones. I loved the characters, music and storyline. If you're a Magical Girl fan then Sailor Moon is a must see.
